Rescuers believed to have located sunken fishing boat
Rescuers searching for a fisherman who has been missing off the coast of Wexford since last night have located what they believe to be his boat at the bottom of the sea.
Two of the three crew members on board the 26ft Rising Sun were rescued from the water late last night, but one later died from hypothermia at Wexford General Hospital.
The skipper, who has been named locally as Pat Colfer, is still missing.
Rescuers now believe they have located the boat after they were alerted to an oil slick near Cunningmore Rock this morning.
Navy divers are due to examine the area later today.
Another slick discovered east of the Saltee Islands earlier in the morning turned out to be a false alarm.
The Rising Sun did not issue a distress signal or mayday call, but a major air and sea search was launched when it failed to return to port after embarking to collect lobster pots.
In the Dáil this morning, the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern offered his condolences to the family of the dead fisherman and everyone else affected by the tragedy.
