Armed gang holds up Westmeath service station

An armed gang has escaped with an undisclosed sum of money following a robbery at a service station in Co Westmeath this morning.

Five masked men, one of them armed with a gun, held up the 24-hour station in Kinnegad at around 2am.

The gang threatened a staff member before fleeing in a waiting car with a quantity of cash and a safe.

No shots were fired during the robbery and nobody was injured.
