Bouma struggling for cup clash
Wilfred Bouma is Aston Villa’s only new injury doubt for the Carling Cup clash with giant-killers Doncaster at Belle Vue.
The former PSV Eindhoven defender suffered a severely bruised toe during Saturday’s single-goal win over Charlton which gave Villa back-to-back Premiership wins for the first time in 12 months.
Jlloyd Samuel is the likely candidate to replace Bouma, while Mark Delaney (groin) and Patrik Berger (knee) are still ruled out as Villa try to avoid the same fate of Manchester City earlier in the competition.
Villa manager David O’Leary has a strong squad at his disposal and Juan Pablo Angel and Lee Hendrie could come into the equation if he decides to freshen up the starting XI.
Team (from): Sorensen, Hughes, Mellberg, Ridgewell, Bouma, Samuel, Milner, Hendrie, McCann, Davis, Barry, Angel, Phillips, Baros, Moore, Taylor, De la Cruz.
