Support group seeks legal definition of sexual consent

The Rape Crisis Network of Ireland is calling for a statutory definition of sexual consent to help in the prosecution of rape and sexual assault cases.

The move is among a range of criminal justice reforms being sought by the organisation to help rape victims.

In a report published today, it said just 1% of sexual violence cases were currently ending in a prosecution.

The other measures being sought by the RCNI include specialist training and education for agencies that deal with sexual crime.
