Foster: 'I never had a childhood'

28/11/2005 - 10:08:00
Jodie Foster is determined to give her sons a perfect childhood, because her success in showbusiness at a young age meant she missed out on being a normal child.

The 43-year-old movie beauty, who first hit the screen as a three-year-old, wants her sons Charles, seven, and Kit, four, to have as much fun as possible.

She says, "I grew up being very aware I was different. That's why I have a psychological need for Charlie and Kit to have normal childhoods.

"Just a few weekends ago we spent the whole time with friends who had rented an enormous waterslide. After playing on it all day, my boys were banged-up, plastered with mud and utterly exhausted. They loved it and I loved it.

"I look back and I didn't have days like that when I was a child. I was too busy working."
