SF: 'IRA decommissioning presents opportunity for progress'

The Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has said that the end of the IRA's campaign opens up significant opportunities for progress, which the party must grasp.

Speaking in Monaghan, Mr Adams said the decision to decommission was a vote of confidence in Sinn Féin by the paramilitaries.

He said the onus is now on the party to bed down the peace process and ensure that both governments implement the Good Friday Agreement.

Mr Adams also says Republicans need to forge a new relationship with Unionists and ending the scourge of sectarianism.
