MV Normandy due in Rosslare as ferry row escalates
27/11/2005 - 10:46:22The Irish Ferries vessel the MV Normandy has set sail from Cherbourg en route to Rosslare but it is now embroiled in the dispute between SIPTU union workers on other routes and the ferry company.
The ship is expected to reach the port at around 3.30pm today.
But port workers in Rosslare, Dublin and Ringaskiddy have vowed not to dock the vessel.
Irish Ferries is under growing pressure this morning to resolve the row over outsourcing jobs.
The company's passenger fleet remains tied up in port in a bitter dispute with SIPTU.
Crew aboard the Isle of Inismore and Ulysses remain defiant, demanding the removal of foreign officers and security guards before agreeing to sail.
