Poll: Majority in favour of risk equalisation in health insurance

A survey conducted for the trade union Amicus shows that a majority of people are in favour of risk equalisation in the health insurance industry.

It would see a transfer of funds between insurers based on the number of high-risk members they have.

The Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney is due to make a decision on whether or not to implement the procedure next month.

Amicus' National Secretary John Tierney said today that it is the best option for the Irish market.
