Beckham salutes Best
25/11/2005 - 17:43:28Real Madrid’s David Beckham paid tribute to George Best after the death of the former Manchester United and Northern Ireland star at the age of 59.
England captain Beckham said: “As a Manchester United fan I always saw George Best as a football legend and it was a proud moment for me when I wore the same number seven shirt as him.
“He is one of the greatest players to have ever graced the game and a great person as well.
“My thoughts are with his family at this time.”
