Armagh and Tyrone announce U21 appointments
Ulster football kingpins Armagh and Tyrone have both appointed new Under-21 managers for the 2006 season.
Liam Donnelly and Martin Coyle, the managerial duo who led Tyrone's minor sides to 10 trophy wins - two All-Irelands, three Ulster championships and five Ulster leagues - between 1999 and 2005, are to step up to Under-21 level.
Paddy Tally, the man who trained the Red Hands to their first All-Ireland senior title in 2003, will act as trainer under the new management. Tally's training services were not sought by Tyrone senior boss Mickey Harte for the 2005 season.
Meanwhile, former Mullaghbawn supremo Peter McDonnell has succeeded Peter Rafferty as Armagh Under-21 manager.
McDonnell led a Mullaghbawn side containing Kieran McGeeney, Justin and Enda McNulty to the Ulster club title in 1995. Rafferty was in charge for the Orchard county’s first All-Ireland success at U-21 level in 2004.
Benny O’Kane (Armagh Harps) and Gary Mallon (Tir na nOg) have been chosen as McDonnell’s selectors.
