Taoiseach strongly criticises Irish Ferries management

Speaking during a visit to Budapest today, Bertie Ahern said that the current actions of Irish Ferries management went against everything he had worked for over the past 20 years.

Two ferries in Pembroke and Holyhead have been prevented from sailing – following separate stand off situations as management brought in security staff in an attempt to remove the existing crew and replace them with cheaper Latvian workers.

Management has denied claims that the security guards sent onto the ships are carrying weapons.
