North: Man shot by masked intruders

A man was recovering in hospital today after he was shot by two masked men in his home in Northern Ireland.

Police said the men forced entry to the property in Elmwood Drive, Bangor, Co Down, shortly before 11pm yesterday.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was shot a number of times in the upper body.

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said the man was in a stable condition in hospital.

Detectives were still investigating a motive for the incident.

A blue Renault 19 car later found burnt out in the Clandeboye Close area was believed to have been used by the suspects before the shooting.
