Indaver: Incineration fears are misplaced
25/11/2005 - 13:18:29The company behind the two controversial commercial waste incinerators planned for Co Meath and Co Cork has insisted that public fears about the facilities are misplaced.
The Environmental Protection Agency granted licences for the plants today, saying it was satisfied the two facilities in Duleek and Ringaskiddy would not pose any danger to human health or the environment.
Local residents, however, have accused the agency of ignoring medical evidence to the contrary.
Responding to the claims, Indaver Ireland chief executive John Ahern insisted that incineration was safe and was widely used throughout the world without any adverse effects.
"I don't think people have to worry," he said.
