EPA grants licences for incinerators in Meath and Cork

25/11/2005 - 09:49:48
The Environmental Protection Agency has granted licences for the operation of two controversial waste incinerators in Co Meath and Co Cork.

The agency said today that it was satisfied the two facilities in Duleek and Ringaskiddy would not pose any danger to human health or the environment.

The EPA said the licences had stringent conditions attached and monitoring would be carried out to enforce these conditions.

Local residents are vehemently opposed to both incinerators, which are being developed by Indaver Ireland.

Opponents now have two months to seek a judicial review of the decision to grant licences to the company.
