Cullen opens new Loughrea by-pass
25/11/2005 - 11:34:35Transport Minister Martin Cullen has officially opened the new €18m Loughrea bypass in Co Galway.
The 3.75km stretch of road has been completed two months ahead of schedule and is set to reduce journey times for motorists travelling between Dublin and Galway.
Mr Cullen said the road would also remove around 10,000 vehicles-a-day from the town of Loughrea, which had been a major bottleneck on the route between Dublin and Galway for some time.
