Aer Lingus flights disrupted by Italian general strike
25/11/2005 - 07:47:33Two Aer Lingus flights between Dublin and Rome today have been disrupted due to a general strike by Italy's three main trade unions.
The airline said its 7.20am service from Dublin to the Italian capital would not be able to depart until 1pm, while the return service was not due back in Dublin until 8.10pm.
Italian workers are staging today's four-hour strike to protest against the Italian government's proposed budget for 2006.
The budget aims to make savings of €16.5bn through a mix of spending cuts, asset sales and a crackdown on tax evasion.
