Bay is Newbury possible

23/11/2005 - 13:37:05
Dancing Bay may take on champion staying hurdlers Baracouda and Inglis Drever at Newbury on Saturday.

The eight-year-old is a classy stayer on the Flat and has four wins to his credit over hurdles, including one over an extended two miles at the Berkshire track.

Fit from a recent fourth on the Flat at Musselburgh, Dancing Bay holds an entry in the Ballymore Properties Long Distance Hurdle, a race which has been won by Baracouda for the last two years.

The Grade Two contest over an extended three miles is being billed as a re-match between Inglis Drever and the French-trained ace who were first and second in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season.

“It’s possible he could run there. We are struggling to find suitable races for him,” said Matthew Budden, racing manager to owners the Elite Racing Club.

“We will have a look at the race and see what else is likely to run before we make up our minds.”
