Labour Court to issue recommendation in An Post row
22/11/2005 - 07:34:01The Labour Court is due to issue a recommendation today in the hope of averting a pre-Christmas strike at An Post.
The Communications Workers Union has arranged strike action in pursuit of outstanding pay increases due to its members under the Sustaining Progress agreement.
The Labour Court has already ruled that the increases be linked to reform of work practices, but the CWU says some of these reforms are unacceptable.
The union deferred its strike earlier this month following an intervention from the National Implementation Body.
Its executive is due to meet this afternoon to consider today's recommendation and is then expected to arrange a ballot on the new proposal which could be complete by the end of the week.
