New cancer diagnosing facility opens at Dublin hospital

A new €5m facility for diagnosing cancer has been opened at the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

The state-of-the-art scanner will be able to cater for up to 100 patients every week and is one of only five such machines in the world.

It has been introduced at the Mater Hospital as part of a public/private partnership.

The hospital said it would help doctors to make speedier cancer diagnoses and monitor the progress of their patients’ treatment.
