Liverpool dominate against Portsmouth
19/11/2005 - 15:53:04Peter Crouch missed a penalty but Liverpool were in full command at Anfield after dominating the first half against struggling Portsmouth.
Crouch was given the chance to open his account for Liverpool from the spot after a debatable foul on Boudewijn Zenden by Andy Griffin.
But when Jamie Ashdown saved the spot-kick, Zenden was first to the rebound to head Liverpool in front.
Pompey had two penalty shouts themselves turned down by referee Peter Walton before Djibril Cisse’s swirling effort from the right – surely a cross – sailed over Ashdown for the second.
