New Little Britain series pulls in 9.5 million viewers
The third series of comedy hit Little Britain opened to 9.5 million viewers last night.
The figures are the show’s best ever ratings.
A host of new characters such as the errant MP Norman Fry and Thai bride Ting Tong grabbed a 39.4% audience share for the return of the BBC1 sketch show.
Last night’s show attracted over three million more viewers than the launch night of the second series, seen by 6.4 million.
Established favourites Vicky Pollard, Lou and Andy and the camp prime ministerial aide Sebastian all return for the third series.
The show’s creators David Walliams and Matt Lucas are currently performing a stage version of the show on a sell-out 140-date nationwide tour.
New characters include a nosy Neighbourly Watch leader and an athlete who stole the husband of overweight spa addict Bubbles.
Lou and Andy were recently inducted into Madame Tussaud’s, after visitors voted them the attraction they would most like to see.
A BBC spokeswoman said: “They’re back and bigger and better then ever before and we’re absolutely delighted.”
