Police investigate building explosion in Austria
16/11/2005 - 09:47:49Federal counterterrorism authorities were today examining the wreckage of a Vienna building that sustained heavy damage in a suspicious explosion overnight.
Austria’s national anti-terrorism squad was deployed after firefighters found batteries, cables and other items that suggested a home-made explosive device may have been detonated.
No one was injured in the blast, which also damaged several vehicles parked in front of the residential building.
The explosion occurred at about 2.40am (1.40am Irish time), blowing out windows and heavily damaging the first floor of the premises, police said.
