FG TD seeks special garda unit to tackle crime gangs
16/11/2005 - 08:31:00Fine Gael TD Jim O'Keefe has called for the establishment of a new garda unit to deal with criminal gangs following another fatal shooting in Dublin last night.
The victim of the gangland-style attack was shot dead while sitting in a car in the Clontarf area of the city last night.
Gardaí believe his killing may be linked to the double murder of two known criminals as part of a long-running feud on Sunday night.
Mr O'Keefe said this morning that the latest incidents highlighted a lack of garda resources to deal with organised crime.
He said he wanted a full-time garda unit to target crime gangs and curtail their activities, particularly those that involve firearms.
