ISEQ in negative territory

The ISEQ index of Irish shares ended the day in negative territory, falling 32.32 points to 6757.92.

The financials enjoyed mixed fortunes today. AIB fell 21c to €17.25, Irish Life and Permanent fell 16c to €15.24 and Bank of Ireland slipped 3c to €12.90.

Anglo Irish Bank was the only financial stock to record an increase, rising 8c to €11.14.

Co-operative Donegal Creamer saw one of the biggest increases of the day, rising 15c to €4.50.

Bookmaker Paddy Power had one of the heaviest losses on today's ISEQ, falling 25c to €13.30.

Pharmaceutical company Elan also saw a heavy loss, plumeting 29c to €8.70.
