Mid-east 'not receiving fair share of Govt spending'
15/11/2005 - 09:20:34A study commissioned by the Mid-East Regional Authority has reportedly found that the area receives less Government funding per head of population than anywhere else in Ireland.
Reports this morning said the study had found that counties Kildare, Meath and Wicklow were receiving less than 70% of the national average when it came to spending in several key areas, like health and education.
The problem appears to have been caused by a failure to increase funding in line with the growing commuter population in these three counties.
