Harney to discuss cancer plan with Northern counterpart

The Tánaiste and Minister for Health, Mary Harney, is due to discuss a proposal to allow Irish cancer patients receive cancer treatment in Belfast during a meeting with her Northern counterpart today.

Ms Harney wants cancer sufferers from the north-west to receive treatment across the border rather than having to travel all the way to Dublin.

A cross-border suicide-prevention initiative is also due to be discussed during her meeting today with British minister Shaun Woodward.
