Crumlin hospital likely to replaced with new facility

15/11/2005 - 07:15:42
Minister for Health Mary Harney has reportedly indicated that Crumlin Children's Hospital will be closed and replaced with a new facility in Dublin.

Reports this morning said a team of assessors had been appointed to examine whether to redevelop the existing buildings or to construct a completely new hospital at a different site.

The reports said Ms Harney had indicated in a written answer to a Dáil question that the latter option was now "likely".

The Government has accepted for some time that the current hospital at Crumlin is unsuitable for modern paediatric care.
