Pop stars unite to highlight violence against women
15/11/2005 - 16:41:46Two pop stars, Martyn Ware and Vince Clarke, have teamed up with human rights charity Amnesty International to create an art installation highlighting violence against women.
Heaven 17 founder Ware and Clarke, of Erasure, want the public to contribute to their sound installation.
They want people to leave messages on an answerphone with their thoughts on a world without violence against women.
It will be displayed in an Amnesty show in London.
Amnesty hopes the Imagine a World show will encourage visitors to think about how violence against women affects their lives while Martyn Ware said he hoped the installation would "make people stop and think".
He explained that he's got a daughter of his own and he hates having to worry about her safety.
