Madonna puts on show at British-debut club
Madonna will play a special show tonight at the London club where she made her British debut 22 years ago.
The Queen of Pop will perform songs from her new album, Confessions On A Dance Floor, before a specially-invited audience of 1,500 fans.
The venue is the Koko Club – formerly the Camden Palace – where Madonna gave her first live UK performance in June 1983.
Then she was an unknown singer who had just released underground US club hit Everybody.
Now she is the world’s biggest female artist, selling more than 200 million albums.
This week she is riding high at the top of the charts with Hung Up, her 11th UK number one.
Tonight the 47-year-old star will perform five songs from the new album, which marks a return to her disco roots.
The audience will be made up of competition winners and the show will be broadcast live on the internet.
It will also be a chance for Madonna to prove she can sing live.
