Youth charged with attacks on mother and daughter
A 17-year-old appeared in court today charged with raping a woman and attempting to rape her six-year-old daughter.
The teenager was also charged with gross indecency against the little girl when he appeared at Lisburn Magistrates’ court in Co Antrim.
In total he faced 15 charges linked to a break-in at a house in the city in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court by video link on December 6.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with causing actual bodily harm to the mother, assault and injurious imprisonment of both mother and daughter and indecently assaulting both of them.
The teenager, smartly dressed in a grey suit and open necked white shirt, stood silently as the catalogue of charges was put to him.
He was further charged with threatening to kill the mother and the little girl and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife.
He also faced two charges of entering a property as a trespasser with intent to rape mother and daughter and entering a property as a trespasser armed with a knife with intent to rape the two.
The court was told by a detective constable that when charged, the teenager, whose birthday was less than a fortnight ago, made no reply to the rape charge and said: “No” to the remaining 14 charges.
However, he told the court he believed he could connect the accused to the charges.
