This was a super Cup encounter which saw a repeat of the SuperLeague clash between these teams just two weeks ago where Roma dominated for the duration of the game for Ballina to steal victory in the dying seconds.

Roma opened strong and maintained a steady lead for the entire first half and led by 19 points with 5 minutes left in the second quarter. Vincent’s were playing the better basketball, containing Ballina’s big American Pellerin. Merry Monk managed to bring it back to 14 by the end of the second.

Ballina maintained their good form and by the end of the third, Vincent’s onlt led by 1 point.

The fourth quarter was a real ding-dong affair. The sides were level with 1 minute into the quarter. Vincent’s picked up a seven-point lead with four minutes remaining.

However this was the turning point in the game as Pellerin came alive as his teammates continued to feed him the ball inside. He was the dominant man in this quarter who contributed 40 points in total

Deora Marsh was also a massive presence. With 31 seconds to go, Vincent’s led by 1 point, 88-87 but with 9 seconds remaining Pellerin again chipped in another basket to put his side ahead by 1 and win out the game 89-88.
