Anti-smoking group seeks €2 rise in cigarette prices
11/11/2005 - 07:33:47The anti-smoking group ASH Ireland is calling for cigarette taxes to be increased by €2 per packet of 20 in the upcoming budget.
The organisation said the increase would bring Irish cigarette prices in line with those in the North and England.
It also believes the increase would help prevent young people from taking up smoking and encourage older people to quit the habit.
