Provisional date for Harringay appeal
Henrietta Knight and Timmy Murphy are set to have their appeals against the punishments handed out over the run of Harringay heard on November 24.
The Jockey Club has provisionally set aside that date for the hearing subject to confirmation of one of the main witnesses, who is a vet.
Knight was fined £1,000 (€1,470), Harringay suspended from running for 40 days and Murphy banned for 14 days after the 9-4 chance finished fifth in a two-mile novices’ hurdle at Towcester on November 3.
Murphy’s original suspension ran from November 14-27 – which ruled him out of the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup meeting – but his decision to contest the decision means the ban is on hold.
Even if Murphy was unsuccessful in his appeal, he would still be free to ride at the Newbury meeting as there has to be two clear working days where he could lodge an appeal.
That would mean his ban would start on November 29.
But if he appealed against the decision again, the ban would go on hold once more.
