Eighth man held in relation to Northern Bank raid

Another man was arrested for questioning today about the £26.5m (€39m) Northern Bank robbery in Belfast.

The man, aged 40, was detained in the Waterside area of Derry.

Eight men have now been detained by detectives hunting the gang who carried out last December's raid, which has been blamed on the IRA.

Two men have been charged, one with the robbery, and today’s arrest in Derry brought to four the number undergoing interrogation. Two others have been released without charge.
