Derry punished Cork’s slipping up in Waterford to move two points clear at the top of the table with this facile win at the Carlisle Grounds.

Derry started well and deservedly took the lead on 16 minutes when Ciaran Martyn flicked on a cross and Mark Farren scored from close range, his 18th goal of the season.

Stephen O’Flynn headed home Pat McCourt's cross to make it 2-0 on 58 minutes.

A third arrived from Ciaran Martyn five minutes later before Derry midfielder Barry Molloy was sent off for clashing with Michael Roche 14 minutes from time.
