Star connections target Tingle

03/11/2005 - 10:20:34
Paul Nicholls is eyeing a tilt at the Tingle Creek Chase with promising chaser Kauto Star.

Nicholls’ charge finished an eyecatching runner-up behind Monkerhostin in Tuesday’s Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter – his first outing for nine months.

The five-year-old will now be aimed at the major two-mile chases this season, with the Tingle Creek at Sandown in December heading the list of assignments.

“I was very happy with his performance after such a long time off as Monkerhostin is a very good horse,” Nicholls told the Racing Post.

“He came back fine and had an hour on the horse-walker, and he will be back cantering tomorrow.

“I’ve talked it over with Ruby (Walsh) and between us we think sticking to two miles is the right route for the horse this season.”
