02/11/2005 - 10:00:21
A Ryanair Boeing 737 with 111 people aboard made an emergency landing in southern Sweden after an engine failure, rescue officials said today.

The Ryanair flight was on its way from Tampere in Finland to London late yesterday when the pilot shut down one of the two engines after it malfunctioned.

The plane landed safely at Sturup airport outside Malmo, 382 miles southwest of Stockholm, air rescue spokesman Lars-Olof Gockert said.

It was not immediately known how the passengers would be able to continue their flight today.

Ryanair has no scheduled flights to Sturup.
