Opposition criticises Govt’s €20bn transport strategy

Opposition parties have criticised the 10-year transport strategy due to be unveiled by the Government later today.

The €20bn initiative is expected to include provisions for a metro line serving Dublin Airport, as well as rail expansions in Cork, Meath and the west of the country.

However, speaking ahead of the plan's launch today, Green Party TD Eamon Ryan said it seemed most money would be spent on roads rather than public transport.

Labour Party TD Roisin Shortall said it must include a set of timeframes for the completion of transport projects.
