Young woman dies in Cork crash

A young woman has been killed in a road accident in Co Cork, bringing to four the number of lives claimed on the country's roads so far this weekend.

The woman in her 20s died after the car she was driving was in collision with another vehicle at Mondrashine between Fermoy and Mitchelstown.

A male passenger in her car is being treated at Cork University Hospital.

Earlier, two young men died in separate accidents in counties Mayo and Cork when the cars in which they were travelling lost control and crashed.

And in Co Meath, a man in his 40's was killed in a three-car pile-up near Ashbourne.
