Ayr passed fit for Saturday meeting
29/10/2005 - 10:11:47Saturday’s fixture at Ayr will go ahead after officials passed a 6am inspection.
Recent rainfall put the first leg of their two-day fixture in doubt but only 2mm of overnight rain means racing will go ahead as planned at 1.55pm.
However, any further rain could force Sunday’s card to be abandoned, with a precautionary inspection called for 6.30am tomorrow.
Clerk of the course Anthea Morshead said: “It looked ominous when around 2mm of rain fell early evening but thankfully it was a dry night after that and racing goes ahead.
“We are forecast rain this afternoon and the ground is heavy at the moment. We will be closely monitoring the situation and see how the ground handles racing today.”
