Swail defeats Doherty in Templeogue final

Irishman Ken Doherty narrowly lost out to Joe Swail in a thrilling final of the VCPoker.ie Irish Professional Snooker Championship in the Spawell, Templeogue last night.

Swail won the first three frames including a break of 129 yesterday afternoon, but Doherty edged his way back in to bring the match to 4-4 at one stage, including a break of 124.

The second session commenced at 8pm and Swail once again took a commanding lead going three frames clear at 7-4.

Former world champion, Doherty fought back for a time to bring the match to 8-7, but Swail showed a steely nerve and finished the match 9-7.
