Carlisle hoping for dry spell

27/10/2005 - 11:11:33
Officials at Carlisle are keeping a close eye on the weather ahead of Sunday’s meeting, which features the £1 Million totetentofollow Cumberland Handicap Chase.

The going is currently described as soft, heavy in places and clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell said: “We’ve had seven inches of rain since October 11.

“It wasn’t too bad on Wednesday at all because it hasn’t been raced on.

“It’s a lovely day and there are no problems at the moment but we are weather watching.

“We are forecast rain on Friday so we’ll see what happens.”
