Heritage Council appeals to public to apply for grants
27/10/2005 - 15:31:41The National Heritage Council today appealed to the public to apply for grants.
Around €2.5m of National Lottery funding has been allocated to protect natural and cultural heritage.
New research shows dramatic increases in the importance we place on conserving our heritage.
Chief Executive of the Heritage Council Michael Starrett said there were a range of reasons to apply.
“It could be someone who wanted to do some awareness raising in their local community through interpretative signing on the footpath,” he said.
"It could be helping to conserve some important artefact in their local museum or any range of a number of things, because heritage is very much a local thing.”
