Fan proposes at Macca concert
27/10/2005 - 13:06:45The Beatles legend Paul McCartney stopped a concert in Detroit, Michigan, last week, so a concert-goer could propose to his girlfriend.
Ben Okuly, 26, held a sign up from the crowd reading "Can Ben ask Melissa to Marry him?".
McCartney spotted the sign, stopped his performance and read it out loud.
He then said: "Well, go on, get down on your knees and ask her, Ben!"
Okuly did so and Melissa Steele said yes.
McCartney then said: "Well, that's a first for me. And I hope it's a last for you, Ben."
Okuly came up with the idea on the way to the gig: "To have Paul McCartney be there and start the proposal, I really don't have words to describe what that was like."
