Elan’s losses down to $67m

27/10/2005 - 10:02:01
Pharmaceutical manufacturer Elan has reported a loss of over $67m (€55.3m) for the first nine months of 2005.

This is a decrease of 35% on the $187m (€154.2m) loss for the same period last year.

The improved figures are being attributed to strong growth in product revenue and divestments.

A safety audit of Elan's MS treatment drug, Tysabri, has reported no new cases of side effects and the company intends to re-launch the drug next year.

Elan halted trials of Tysabri following the death of two patients while undergoing trial treatment.
