Blair outlines five priority areas for EU
26/10/2005 - 14:33:51British prime minister Tony Blair today outlined five priority areas the European Union should focus on in the coming years, including education and energy supplies, in order to meet the challenges of globalisation.
In a speech to the European Parliament, Blair said the EU should also get a quick agreement on a common anti-terrorism strategy, and called for a budget deal for 2007 to 2013 by December.
He highlighted its importance to the 10 accession countries.
In an appearance during which he was occasionally barracked by MEPs, Blair also said he hoped to reach political agreement on how to move forward with the controversial EU directive on services.
