Three-match ban for Robinson

26/10/2005 - 14:38:11
West Brom defender Paul Robinson will have to serve a three-match suspension after the midlands club withdrew their appeal against his sending-off in Tuesday’s Carling Cup clash with Fulham.

Robinson was given his marching orders by referee Andy D’Urso in extra time for violent conduct after kicking out at defender Zat Knight.

The full-back reacted to a push by Knight which left him sprawling in the advertising signs at Craven Cottage during the Baggies’ 3-2 win.

Albion initially lodged an appeal with the Football Association earlier today but it was withdrawn a couple of hours later.

Robinson will now miss Sunday’s Barclays Premiership clash with Newcastle and the following games with West Ham on November 5 and Everton on November 19.

The former Watford player has been one of Albion’s most consistent players since Bryan Robson took charge at The Hawthorns a year ago.
