Simcock may delay Postage
David Simcock would be content to put Postage Stampe away for the winter if the weather scuppers his plan to run her at Newmarket on Saturday.
The Singspiel filly, who cost only 15,000 guineas, will not run in the Listed EBF Montrose Fillies’ Stakes over a mile if the ground is unsuitable.
She made a favourable impression on her debut when winning by five lengths over seven furlongs at Folkestone in August.
“She wouldn’t want the ground too soft. Rain is expected in Newmarket on Thursday night and it depends how much we get,” said the Headquarters-based trainer.
“If she doesn’t run I’d be quite happy to put her away for next year. She’s very well and in great form.
“Basically she’s been a weak filly, which is why she wasn’t seen out until August, and there are few races for fillies over a mile but she’s very much one for next year.
“I have no particular races in mind for her. We’ll see how she winters and take it from there.”
