13-year-old remanded after admitting to setting fire to school
26/10/2005 - 13:35:19A thirteen-year-old boy has been remanded in custody in Northern Ireland, accused of setting fire to a school in Ballymena.
The High Court heard that he allegedly told police the school was targeted because it was a Catholic establishment.
He admitted to police that he was with two others at St Louis’ Primary School in August and that one of the other youths had poured petrol through an open window.
The boy’s mother said that he was out of her control and that she believed he was a risk to the public because he refused to observe his curfew orders.
His bail was revoked and arrangements are being made to put him in a youth justice centre.
