Interest rates could rise early next year

Bank of Ireland's chief economist Dan McLaughlin said today that all indicators pointed to a quarter point rise in the first three months of 2006.
He said a growth in mortgage lending across the Eurozone and rising inflation meant the European Central Bank would be likely to act.
